Meet Jim. Jim is a senior operations leader responsible for delivering results. To get those results, every day he:

- provides feedback to others about their performance
- has tough conversations
Jim has a naturally outgoing personality and people like him; however, he doesn’t always understand why his team members may become unmotivated. He sometimes wishes he were more in control of his emotions when things don’t go as planned.
Jim’s manager has identified him as high potential for a promotion. Jim’s manager also knows that investing in improving Jim’s leadership capabilities now will provide valuable returns for future operations under Jim’s leadership.

Jim’s manager requests for Jim to work with a Leadership Coach. Once a month, for a few months, Jim works with his coach on understanding his own leadership strengths and the challenges of managing up, down and across the organization.
As he progresses in his sessions, Jim begins to further understand the leader he is and how to work toward the leader he wants to become.
