Building Talent Access in 2021 And Beyond

    By admin | Compensation & Salary, Employee Recruitment & Selection, Human Resources, Human Resources Consulting & Management | 0 comment | 9 July, 2021 | 0

Now more than ever, employers are working with recruiters to navigate the disruptions in the workforce, and recruiters are providing a distinct skill set to help companies win top talent.

When Your Team Returns to The Office and Works Remotely

Throughout the outbreak, most workers opted to shelter in place, to stay put instead of taking a chance on the unpredictable job market just a year ago.  However, that job market has changed dramatically in just one year. With millions being vaccinated, and restrictions lifting, businesses are open and ready to hire.

We are just coming out of the pandemic at the beginning stages of recovery, and we still have approximately 70% of the workforce working remotely. Because of the experiences over the last year, companies are realizing that they can work with a hybrid workforce.  It might not be ideal, but it is manageable.

Flexibility and freedom to manage one’s own time is here to stay.  People have become accustomed to working remotely, and this new-found flexibility will be a factor in whether they want to stay in their current position or take on new roles, maybe in new companies.   The flexibility of working remotely will shape the labor market as things continue to open.

    Building Talent Access

Access to talent will continue to be a challenge in 2021 and beyond.  Employees want multiple options – not just with salary and compensation, but also with scale and scope of the work they want to do.  A hybrid workforce means not only changing the way we work, but also changing the way we recruit and hire new talent. Zoom has dramatically transformed both in the last 18 months. And, although larger pools of potential candidates are created when companies are no longer tied to their geography, it’s still important to put company culture front and center when hiring new employees.

Good recruiters understand that they are often the first representation of a company, whether hiring for remote or in-office workers.  They must understand the company culture and create a strong message that introduces the company’s values to the candidates. Recruiting professionals take messages of brand and culture and develop those into conversations to match the needs of the employer with the desires of the potential employee.

    Hiring in 2021

Many companies are struggling to adjust to the new environment. Hiring practices and salaries still reflect the economy of early 2020.

Businesses looking to hire new talent need to consider making the hiring process an easy user experience for both the hiring manager and the job seeker. If it’s too slow or if there are too many demands on the job searchers, candidates will withdraw.  At Excelerant, we know the power of an in-depth, multi-step selection process, and our recruiters also know that too many steps in that process can quickly turn a candidates’ interest.  We have honed a balanced approach to what we ask of job searcher’s time and effort, while ensuring the hiring manager has well-rounded information about each candidate to make a solid hiring decision.
